Members of the Tesla community took the initiative to bring Model Y to life before the official unveiling event to be held on Thursday.
The Redditor J380 shared a realistic rendering of the Y model that took the image of Model 3 and expanded its proportions compared to Tesla's teaser image of the next all-electric crossover. By transposing the Model 3's headlight and roofline into an image of the Y model's silhouette, you might be able to visualize a vehicle that looks a bit like a miniature version of the Model X.
The second photo shared by another Reddit user "filled in" the same email-generated shadow picture, describing the EV crossover with a wider hood and a thicker overall appearance than the model 3-based rendering. image was then modified to lighten the appearance, thus increasing overall visibility.
This is not the first time that the Tesla community is using Photoshop to bring a Y model to life. Motivated by a teaser-like image shared in 2018 by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, graphic designer and Tesla enthusiast Miguel Massé, imagined a crossover with a generous ground clearance and an aggressive attitude. Massé also imagined a $ 25,000 sub-compact Tesla sedan, first mentioned by Musk during an exclusive interview with MKBHD, a technical critic and social media influencer.
The Tesla Y model is expected to generate more demand than the Model 3 and sell at a rate of nearly 1 million units per year. According to Musk, Model Y will also have much lower production costs than any other vehicle in its fleet and will reach a rapid production ramp based on sharing 75% of its components with Model 3. Previously, the company had planned to build the crossover the an entirely new architecture and coming from a dedicated factory, but after the Tesla management team brought Musk back from "cliffs of madness", it was decided that the model 3 would be the central architecture of the new vehicle.
