Tesla now manufactures Supercharger V3 and energy products at Gigafactory 2

The initial goal of Tesla's Gigafactory 2 has not yet been realized, so Tesla is adding new factory-made products, including the manufacture of Supercharger V3 and energy products.

Yesterday, a Reuters report revealed that Panasonic was now mainly using Tesla's Gigafactory 2 to provide solar products to other solar companies.

Originally, Tesla had planned to use solar cells manufactured by Panasonic at the factory to build its solar tiles at the Buffalo site, but the product has experienced many delays.

We are now learning that the company is still using the plant by adding new product lines to the site.

"In addition to increasing the production of Solar Roof, Tesla is also diversifying its presence in Buffalo by manufacturing and assembling supercharging and energy storage components at Gigafactory 2. We are committed to investing in Buffalo and the state. . create more high-tech jobs while supporting Tesla's energy storage products and global supercharging infrastructure. "

In a paper filed with the State of New York, Tesla revealed that the first production line of its new Supercharger case is now operational and plans to roll out more lines later this year.

Earlier this year, Tesla launched its new supercharger V3, more powerful, with a new architecture.

The Buffalo News reported on the new Tesla deposit:

"The new products are a way to bring more work and a more diverse product line to the Buffalo plant at a time when Tesla's solar energy business is plummeting. The company is in less than a year of the requirement to double the size of its current workforce or face a $ 41.2 million fine from the state, which has built the factory with 750 million dollars of public funds. "

Tesla and Panasonic had to employ 500 people at the factory since last month and reported employing 730 workers according to the rankings.

Electrek's Take

This is an interesting development and it looks like a smart way to use space until solar activity resumes.

This should also allow companies to increase their production of Supercharger V3 and start deploying more stations because, to our knowledge, there is still only one Supercharger V3 station to date.
