Tesla responds to growing consumer demand to solve their own problems by publishing a series of DIY guides for Model 3.
The idea here is to allow homeowners to solve a range of problems without going through the hassle, time constraints and expenses associated with scheduling a service appointment. As the list below shows, the maintenance you can do at home is pretty basic, but Tesla is to be commended for his support.
-
Restarting the touch screen
-
Pairing a Bluetooth phone
-
Wi-Fi connection
-
Programming HomeLinkv
-
Adding and removing keys
-
Replacement of the key ring battery
-
Installing the phone charging cable
-
Installing the front license plate bracket
-
Replacement of cabin filters
-
Checking and adjusting the tire pressure
-
Windshield washer fluid
-
Replacement of the wiper blades
-
Manually release the charging cable
-
Calibrate Windows
-
Removing and installing Aero covers
-
Removing and Installing Wheel Nut Covers
All of the above procedures can be viewed on a single web page and, where applicable, Tesla has completed the text with animated GIFs to facilitate the process. For procedures such as replacing cabin filters, the animation is particularly helpful and reassuring to look at before you start removing the side panels of your vehicle.
For now, these guides cover the simplest maintenance tasks, but it's a good start. We hope Tesla will build on it to expand it to other models in its range of vehicles. Other automakers should also take note, because if Tesla continues to offer DIY assistance, it will quickly become another good reason to buy a Tesla.
