BEIJING (Reuters) – US electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O) lowered the price of its model 3 marked in mass and raised the price of its premium cars models X and S.

The starting price for Model 3 now stands at $ 30,315, up from $ 32,225, the Tesla website said Tuesday. The high-end X model now starts at $ 75,315, instead of $ 71,325, while the S model goes from $ 65,125 to $ 70,115.

Prices include potential incentives and $ 9,875 in fuel savings, Tesla said on its website.

Earlier this month, Tesla said shipments of its three models in the second quarter of this year had increased 51 percent from the previous quarter, reaching a record 95,200 vehicles. Model 3 accounted for about 80% of the total, highlighting the vehicle's role as a pivotal part of Tesla's growth strategy.

The automaker said it expects production and shipments to continue growing in the third quarter.

Tuesday, Tesla also changed its prices in China, the world's largest market for electric vehicles.

Its website indicated that the starting price of Model 3 was now 355,900 yuan ($ 51,780), compared with 421,000 yuan. He wore the X model at 790,900 yuan and the S model at 776,900.

Tesla is building a factory in Shanghai. In May, it announced a starting price of 328,000 yuan for model 3 vehicles built in the new plant.
