Tesla Roadster's SpaceX booster will be hidden behind the license plate, says Elon Musk

The new Tesla Roadster will come with an optional "SpaceX package" that will include cold air thrusters to improve performance.

Now CEO Elon Musk says the booster will be hidden behind the license plate.

When it unveiled the vehicle for the first time, Musk presented a list of extremely impressive specs for the new Roadster, including a 0 to 100 km / h speed in 1.9 seconds, a range of 620 miles and more.

Musk teased these specifications because the "basic specifications" and other versions could be even more delusional.

Later, he even announced that Tesla would offer a "SpaceX package" including cold air thrusters.

At first, the CEO said that these thrusters, which are related to small rocket engines, will "significantly improve acceleration, top speed, braking and cornering", but he also stated that it would allow "maybe even a Tesla to fly".

He talked about the Tesla Roadster being able to even fly over the ground.

We still do not know what these propellers will look like on a car, but now, Musk says they'll be subtle and that the rear propeller will even be hidden behind the license plate:

This comment answered a Tesla Roadster fan design concept with a SpaceX package inspired by Charlie Automotive's Back to the Future:

Previously, Musk said the SpaceX solution would remove the back seat of the Tesla Roadster, because the air tank and compressor would occupy the space, but they would definitely be more subtle than this concept.

After a recent release of the Tesla Roadster prototype, we had a first glimpse of the Roadster's next-generation trunk as well as seats and the rear door system.

At the unveiling of the car in 2017, Tesla said its goal was to put the new Roadster into production in 2020.

The builder is currently making reservations for the $ 200,000 basic version with an expensive $ 50,000 deposit and for the $ 250,000 Founders series for an even crazier $ 250,000 deposit.

Musk recently moderated expectations about the timing of the release of the new Tesla Roadster, saying it was not a priority.

Tesla removed the vehicle from the roadmap of its product during recent presentations.
