Tesla released its delivery and production figures for the fourth quarter of 2020 and full year 2020. They managed to deliver a record number of over 180,000 vehicles, but barely missed the target of 500,000 vehicles delivered on the full year.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reporting on Tesla’s attempt to achieve what CEO Elon Musk called a “historic milestone of 500,000 cars built and delivered” in 2020.
This is a goal that the CEO set himself 5 years ago.
To achieve this, Tesla needed to produce around 170,000 vehicles and deliver around 181,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter.
With production ramping up at Gigafactory Shanghai, it looked like Tesla would hit the production needed, but we reported that Tesla was within a thousand deliveries of its target in North America with just one day to go. of the quarter.
Today, Tesla released its production and delivery figures for the fourth quarter of 2020 and confirmed 179,757 vehicles produced and 180,570 vehicles delivered:

Tesla has announced that it has achieved “the production and delivery of half a million vehicles” in 2020:
“In 2020, we produced and delivered half a million vehicles, in line with our latest forecasts. In addition, production of the Model Y in Shanghai has started and deliveries are expected to begin shortly. “
Technically, they didn’t meet the target of delivering 450 vehicles, but it’s hard to fault them for declaring victory:

Electrek’s Take: Another victory for Tesla
As we noted earlier this week, as Tesla neared the milestone, it’s a win no matter what here.
On the production side, Tesla achieved an increase of 24% quarter over quarter and 71% year over year.
On the delivery side, Tesla achieved a 30% increase quarter-over-quarter and 61% year-over-year.
This is simply incredible growth, especially for a product as complex as an electric vehicle.
For the whole of 2020 compared to 2019, Tesla increased its deliveries by 36% despite the global pandemic.
How many other manufacturers do you think can say that about their performance in 2020?
Now that this is a milestone, I think it would be great for Tesla to focus on more stable vehicle flow and delivery to avoid those end-of-quarter rushes, which should also help with quality.
