Tesla China announced today the price of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus variant that will be produced at Gigafactory 3. Starting at RMB 328,000 (approximately US $ 47,400), the locally manufactured vehicle costs RMB 49,000 (approximately USD 7,000) compared to the United States. The price of Model 3 SR + was 377,000 RMB (approximately $ 54,500). The savings on the locally manufactured vehicle are significant, but Tesla said the expected delivery time for the electric sedan produced by Gigafactory 3 was 6 to 10 months.

While the price of the SR + model made in China still places the vehicle in the same price range as competitors such as the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (Chinese versions are also sold at around 330,000 RMB or around 47,700 USD), the Silicon Valley electric sedan offers significant benefits in terms of reduced taxes and license fees. Model 3, produced by Gigafactory 3 and produced by Gigafactory 3, is expected to be the company's ideal vehicle in the Chinese market at 460 km per load according to NEDC standards.

Immediately after the opening of pre-orders, Tesla enthusiasts in China noticed that the company's official website was getting slower and slower. Tesla's official Weibo account was quick to be updated and apologized for slowing down its official site. According to the manufacturer of electric cars, the first order of the model 3 made in China was finalized within 3 minutes of the opening of reservations and new orders followed soon after.

"The first order was finalized within 3 minutes of opening the booking. Due to the very high demand of the Chinese-made model 3 on Tesla's official website, traffic is too much. Please be patient. Or please visit the stores, "wrote Tesla.

Finally, the Tesla website in China was apparently overwhelmed by traffic, posting 404 errors for users attempting to access the site. Cheerful Tesla @arcandrally, who was trying to access the Model 3 configurator in China, observed that Tesla.cn had begun to divert online traffic to the stores as a temporary fix.

A number of Chinese social media users have expressed disappointment over the higher than expected starting price of model 3 produced by Gigafactory 3, but the launch of the vehicle has nevertheless met with widespread support from the Tesla community and the electric car. Overall, it appears that the sheer volume of traffic that has flooded Tesla China's website shows only a hint of interest in the public buying the vehicle.

Gigafactory 3, whose factory hull is now complete, is at the center of Tesla's China campaign with the locally made Model 3. After the construction of the plant's hull, the facility is expected to undergo a soil hardening in June. These will be followed by pipeline communications, equipment parking, equipment commissioning and production testing, which could begin as early as September, unless there are unforeseen problems.
