Tessica Brown's plastic surgeon reveals details of Gorilla Glue removal

The question that preoccupied everyone over the past week was how Tessica Brown was finally going to get Gorilla Glue out of her hair. But after countless failed attempts by Brown and others, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon was able to crack the code. His name is Dr Michael K. Obeng, MD, and he is praised not only for his level of skill and knowledge, but also for performing the procedure completely for free.

“What Tessica went through is a nightmare,” Dr. Obeng told ESSENCE ahead of Wednesday’s procedure. “Gorilla glue has such a widespread use, so it’s going to be tough, but I’m sure I can fix it.” And he did.

On Thursday morning, a video circulated of the three-hour procedure, which allowed Brown’s hair to be completely stripped of the glue. “Based on my background in chemistry, I created a solvent that was made from medical grade adhesive remover and acetone to pierce the month long shell,” he said.

Aloe vera and olive oil were also included in the formula to help soothe the scalp. “Some of these chemicals in the solvent could have potentially caused chemical burns,” explained Dr. Obeng. “But we were equipped to deal with it.”

What seems to have shocked everyone the most is that Brown was able to keep so much hair after the procedure. According to Dr. Obeng, that was the intention. “Solvent was never designed to break hair,” he says. “Because of the chemicals and the condition the hair is in, it will be damaged initially, but she will have hair. And it will continue to grow back. “

Dr Obeng insists that recovery time is minimal as well.

“Once it’s done, it’s pretty straightforward,” he says. “After that, we have to watch the products she uses on her hair, but she’s going to recover one hundred percent.”
