Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a phone beast in many ways between its big screen, capable cameras, and memory, but how fast is it compared to Apple’s latest consumer phone? Not very, it seems. Gary Sims pitted the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra against the regular iPhone 12 in his realistic Speed Test G benchmark, and the results aren’t … pretty.
Put simply, the iPhone 12 has blown the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in every way. Apple’s device claimed the biggest advantage in the CPU-oriented test, where it finished in 32.5 seconds compared to Samsung’s 38, but it also won by clear margins in GPU and in-use tests. mixed despite running visuals at higher resolutions (the rating was reduced to 1080p). The iPhone 12 completed the entire speed test in 1 minute and 3 seconds, while the Note 20 took almost 14 seconds longer.

It’s a real test of processing power rather than memory and storage speed. In this case, you see how the A14 Bionic chip and iOS compare to a Snapdragon 865 Plus running Android.
The Sims didn’t explain why the iPhone 12 got ahead of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but the story is likely a repeat of what you’ve seen with other speed tests. The A14 Bionic is the first production 5nm chip where the Snapdragon 865 Plus has to “settle” for a less efficient 7nm design. While processor architecture and operating system may play a role, there’s no doubt that Apple has an edge in newer technology.
It also points to an issue with the price / performance ratios of Android phones. The Note 20 Ultra normally costs $ 1,300, and it’s still a premium phone at $ 1,100 after the Black Friday discounts. The iPhone 12, meanwhile, is priced at $ 799. You’re clearly paying more than just a fast chip with Samsung’s handset, but this test once again suggests that Apple has the best bet if you’re focused on speed and don’t want to make the feature sacrifices that accompany the OnePlus 8T.
