The list of accolades for 247Sports’ four-star receiver Tetairoa McMillan, the country’s No.27 overall prospect and the country’s No.5 wide receiver, seems to be growing by the day.
This summer, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver from Servite High School (Anaheim, Calif.) Participated in arguably the nation’s best football hopeful camp, opening finals, and won the overall MVP.
Earlier this month, McMillan was named the No. 1 OCVarsity Hot 100 player by The Orange County Register, naming him as the best impact player in Orange County.
He’s on the bubble for a fifth star, but carries the resume of one of the country’s most decorated prospects.
And Monday night, McMillan ended his recruiting, picking the Oregon Ducks over the other Arizona and USC finalists:
McMillan, who calls himself “T-Mac” and is an elite high school volleyball player, is the top-rated rookie for offensive skills of the Mario Cristobal era, according to the 247Sports rankings. He tops wide receiver Troy Franklin (# 54, 2021), wide receiver Dont’e Thornton (# 75, 2021), quarterback Ty Thompson (# 81, 2021) and wide receiver Mycah Pittman (no. ° 85, 2019).
Comparing him to NFL star Keenan Allen, Greg Biggins, 247Sports national recruiting analyst, predicts McMillan will be a future NFL first-round pick:
“Has a long frame, 6-4 and plenty of room to add some good weight. Shows the ability to be a dominant player in both directions, but is primarily recruited as a receiver. Has a high level of body control, is a natural pass catcher and makes the catching routine spectacular. Is an outstanding basketball and volleyball player and uses his jumping ability to regularly win jumping ball battles on the court or in the red zone. Has very good hands and his adaptability to football is exceptional. Not a burner but is very good after catch and is a very polite road racer. Catches the ball well on contact and just needs to work on his top speed to take his game to the next level.
With the addition of McMillan, the Oregon class goes from No.12 nationally to No.9, overtaking Texas, Clemson and Florida State in the process.
And the hot streak from Oregon to California may not be over.
After getting McMillan and 247Sports four-star cornerback Jahlil Florence this month, the Ducks are expected to see the future of Jalil Tucker, the nation’s number one athlete, on Thursday.
He is thought to be a fat skinny from Oregon.
Since the start of the summer, Texas have been seen as the backbone of the Ducks recruiting class, thanks to the additions of five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, four-star offensive lineman Cameron Williams, wide receiver four. star Nicholas Anderson, four-star safety Landon Hullaby and three-star wide receiver Stephon Johnson.
But with the addition of McMillan, California has once again risen to the forefront of Oregon’s recruiting efforts.
Analysis
T-Mac is an exceptionally talented one, who belongs to the discussion of the “best wide receiver rookie in program history,” alongside Cameron Colvin and Troy Franklin.
And his addition is a little surprise.
Oregon wasn’t the favorite to clinch McMillan earlier this summer, but a June 18 campus visit and good recruiting pushed the Ducks to the fore.
After struggling to recruit the wide receiver for years, Oregon settled the issue under the guidance of wide receiver coach Bryan McClendon, who was instrumental in recruiting McMillan.
Over the past two scouting rounds, the Ducks have landed some of the best pass catchers in program history – Franklin, McMillan and Thornton.
And while McMilan continues that trend, he’s hardly the only impact addition in the 2022 class, as joins ESPN four-star wide receiver Nicholas Anderson, Arkansas four-star wide receiver Isaiah Sategna and wide receiver. three-star Texas Stephon Johnson.
Oregon’s future is bright.
