Texans’ Will Fuller suspended six games for PED violation, receiver offers explanation in social media post

Will Fuller has been suspended by the NFL for the next six games for PED violation, the Texans’ star wide receiver announced on social media. In the post, Fuller explained that he was seeking treatment and was prescribed a drug that he believed to be permitted in the league’s drug policy, but was not.

“Earlier this year, I sought treatment from a medical professional who prescribed me drugs that he believed to be permitted under NFL drug policy,” Fuller wrote. “It turns out that my confidence in this professional was misplaced because this drug was NOT a substance permitted under the NFL Performance Enhancing Substances Policy.

“As a result of this mistake, I was suspended for six matches for taking this banned drug. I sincerely apologize to the Texas organization and all my fans for this mistake. Come back better than ever in 2021. “

With this suspension starting now, that means Fuller, who is in the middle of a career year with Houston, will be out the rest of the season and suspended for the opener of the 2021 campaign. Since the wide receiver is expected to be an unrestricted free agent in the next offseason, that suspension could mean he played his final shot as a member of the Texans. If so, Fuller came out with a bang, totaling 171 receiving yards and two of six touchdowns in Houston’s resounding victory over the Detroit Lions at Thanksgiving.

As for the 2020 Texans, who have won three of their last four games, it’s as hard a blow as you can imagine outside of Deshaun Watson. Fuller leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.
