EDINBURG, Texas – A Texas high school football player charged onto the field and bowed to a referee Thursday night because he was angry after being ejected from the game.

Edinburgh High School senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron came running from the sideline after the referee called the send off, slamming into the official during the first half of the zonal match against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo.

Duron was escorted from the stadium by police.

McAllen’s monitor reported that the referee had been assessed for concussion by stadium medical staff.

The game resumed after a delay, with Edinburg winning 35-21 to advance to the playoffs.

District 31-6A defensive player of the year last season, Duron is also the Bobcats kicker and punter and a star wrestler.
