Goosehead Insurance associate general counsel Paul Davis was fired after a video broadcast live on social media showed the Texas attorney’s involvement in the U.S. Capitol breach on Wednesday.
Gooshead confirmed Davis was “no longer employed” in a tweet Thursday.
According to a note to employees obtained by Bloomberg Law, Goosehead CEO and co-founder Mark Jones said the company was not aware of Davis’ plans to be part of the “violent protest.”
“While we support our employees’ right to vote and express themselves politically, we do not condone violent or illegal acts. Davis has involved wrongdoing because there will be no verification.
“The fact that they won’t let us inspect the ballots or the machines should tell you something,” Davis continued. “We’re all trying to get into the Capitol to stop this and that’s what is happening … they tear gas at us and it’s not okay, not okay, people won’t take it.”

Davis graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 2011, according to a profile on the State Bar of Texas website.
Although he was fired from Goosehead, the State Bar of Texas confirmed to FOX News that Davis was still qualified to practice law in the state.

Law & Crime reported that Davis denied the wrongdoing in an Instagram post.
“For those of you who claim that I was trying to ‘storm the Capitol’ it is obvious from all of my history that I was protesting peacefully,” Davis wrote, according to the outlet. “They gassed the entire crowd that was standing there with me. I wasn’t trying to break in. I was just talking to the police and praying for them.”
In a follow-up post, Davis reportedly added that he had no intention of doing anything violent by saying that they were “trying to enter the capital”, but that he was talking about protest.
“The Twitter video is out of context, as they do for all conservative patriots,” he said.
Davis’s Instagram account has since been made private. He did not immediately return several requests for comment from FOX News.
