Search and Rescue Teams found the body of a Texas Police Chief and a former Army paratrooper missing after his fall from a fishing boat in Galveston Bay.
Chris Reed, the police chief of the Kemah Police Department, lost balance and sank to the sea due to a wake created by a larger passing ship near Texas City on Friday, according to the US Coast Guard.
Reed's wife called 911 around 4 pm Friday to announce that he had fallen in the bay, officials said. He was not wearing a lifejacket.

A body corresponding to Reed's description was found Sunday morning shortly before around 8 am approximately 2.5 km north of Texas Dike by the Galveston County Marine Unit, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Chief Reed, as well as to the community of Kemah and the law enforcement community," said Lieutenant-Colonel Cmdr. Caren Damon, Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator for the Coast Guard.
Texas City Police Chief Joe Stanton described Reed, who was head of the Kemah Police Department two years ago, as "a big part of the forces of the police. of Galveston County "at a press conference Friday night.

Nearly twenty agencies participated in Reed's search by sea and by air, according to the Coast Guard.
Reed has also served on the board of the Clear Creek Independent School District, which describes him as a "children's champion and beacon of light".
He is survived by his wife and three grown children.
