Texas returns to Top 25 AP after claiming third consecutive victory

After their third win in as many games, the Texas Longhorns are back in the AP Top 25, reappearing at No. 21.

The same goes for the USA Today Coaching Poll with Texas making another appearance at No.23.

After rolling the Rice Owls and Texas Tech Red Raiders for two straight weeks, totaling 128 points in the process, Texas had a lot more to deal with the TCU Horned Frogs. At Fort Worth, where the Horns hadn’t won since 2013, Steve Sarkisian’s side overcame a slow start and led the entire second half en route to a 32-27 victory.

So, with a quarter of the season and the third in three games now in sight, Texas sit 4-1, 2-0 in Big 12 action.

Meanwhile, in a Big 12 that appears to be fully open, Texas are one of three ranked teams at the moment, joining No. 12 in Oklahoma State and No. 6 in Oklahoma. Sooners, who the Horns are set to face in the Red River showdown next Saturday.

Kick-off between the No.21 Longhorns and No.6 Sooners is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT on ABC.
