Thousands of Texas Tech students celebrated the final victory of the team by overturning cars, committing vandalism and even setting fire to rental scooters in the streets of Lubbock, Texas late Saturday night, according to numerous reports.

Students stormed the streets of northwestern Texas after the Red Raiders made their first-ever national men's championship game and the scene quickly turned into chaos.

According to reports, the crowd of fans of Rowdy Red Raider would have bonfires in the couches of the nearby streets of the university. The photos of witnesses show crowds climbing on the roofs of buildings and at the top of telephone poles. Some partygoers have even burned lime hire scooters to celebrate the triumph of their high school in the state of Michigan.

Finally, police in riot gear were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd after failing to warn to leave the area, according to testimony.

The city of Lubock issued a statement in which it explained the actions of students after the crowds dwindled:

"After Michigan State's defeat of Texas Tech, hundreds of fans have come together and engaged in dangerous and disappointing behavior, including vandalizing a property. We are proud and excited for Texas Tech, but this behavior will not be tolerated. We want Red Raider fans to support the team and celebrate in a legal and responsible way – we are on the national stage, so be proud of Lubbock. "
