The police arrested a Texas woman who, it is said, has lived with his mother's dilapidated remains prominently in the past three years.

Investigators believe that Jacqueline Crayton fell into the house that she shared with her daughter and her handicapped granddaughter in 2016. Her daughter was not treated, police said in a Facebook post, causing Crayton's death in a 71-year-old bedroom.

Police found the remains of Crayton last week while she was conducting an investigation of child protection services at the home where her daughter and granddaughter still live, said the head of the Seguin police, Terry Nichols, at a press conference.

Delissa Crayton, 49, faces a crime of injury to a child under the age of 15 because police believe her daughter has lived in the two-bedroom house with her grandmother's rotting corpse.

While her grandmother was breaking down in one of the bedrooms, the teenage daughter shared the other room with her mother, police said. The teenager was placed with family members, the police said.

The investigation is ongoing and the police are expected to file further charges against Delissa Crayton, who is already facing 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $ 10,000.

Nichols described Jacqueline Crayton as being respected in the community. She has worked in the local school district for decades, KABB reported.
