Charlamagne Tha Dieu claims Wendy Williams endured "a lot of abuse" over the years.
In the Thursday episode of "The Breakfast Club" of Power 105.1, his co-host asked the radio personality he had recently telephoned Williams as a result of the news that she would divorce her Kevin Hunter, where he had invited her to dinner. Charlamagne said it was not a romantic invitation, but rather an olive branch in their rock friendship and offering his support to Williams throughout the divorce process.
"For me, someone who was a friend with Wendy, who works with her and who occupies a prominent place in the forefront of a lot of abuse that I've seen endure, I'm just happy that she is finally free, "he said in the show. "We talked on the phone for a very long time – it was good for us to clarify a lot of things and I wish him the best."
"She has a lot of healing to do and I am all about healing and abandoning the toxic people in your life," he continued. "And I think letting go of toxic people into her life is a big step forward to love yourself, so I hope she continues." And I also know that in times like this, people need support and love, so I have no problem to show her support and let her know that I'm here if she needs to me. "
Although Charlamagne pointed out that the dinner would be strictly platonic, his co-hosts asked him who would pay for this affair. It turns out that the alum of the "Guy Code" has a specific rule to which it adheres when it comes to paying for meals.
"I have a harsh rule that says if I go to dinner with someone who has more money than me, they have to pay," he joked. "So, I think it would be fair that she pays."
Wednesday, on his show, Williams said he did not receive one, but two phone calls from men wanting her to go out now that she's single. The first was by DJ Boof, who pumped the audience on the morning talk show. The second came from Charlamagne.
"Invitations to social events continue to swirl on my phone and other things – they really do," Williams said. "I was busy with my business last night, reading my book – you know, I love reading – and suddenly my cell phone rang."
It was Boof who invited him to dinner. She accepted the offer and told her, "I'll see you this weekend, come get me at the hour."
After receiving food, Wiliams said that she had sat down to eat and read a book when her phone rang again.
"It was not Boof, it was Charlamagne," she recalls. "Charlamagne wanted to bring me dinner!" Williams explained that she could not hang out with the personality of the radio because she already had projects with boof. Fortunately, Charlamagne had a solution.
"Then Charlamagne said," Well, I know Boof. Why do not we take you both? "," She said. "So, I said:" Look, I read, I have my food here. You call Boof. "
Williams finally chose to take both men on their offers, "I have a double date!" she says."
Last Thursday it was reported that Williams had asked for a divorce The couple, married for more than two decades, had couple problems in the past, especially when Hunter cheated on Williams following the birth of their son, as reported by the host in his 2004 memoir. Wendy's Got The Heat ".
However, Hunter would have misled Williams again with Sharina Hudson, who would have recently given birth to Hunter's child.
