Good news everyone! It is this time of year: spring. But also, it's time for the CNV team to sit down, discuss and determine which games are part of our list of the top 25 Nintendo Switch switches for spring 2019. Twice a year, we pile up in a room and discuss the games that should be. added, removed or moved from our list so that you, the reader, can enjoy the best of what the Nintendo Switch has to offer. These are our recommendations based on what we played, how much we enjoyed, or whether or not it's a better experience elsewhere. We will take a look:
25. Guacamelee 2
New in our list of the 25 best!
Dozens, if not hundreds of Metroidvanias have found a home on Nintendo Switch, but none of us is as vibrant and unique as the Guacamelee series of Drinkbox Studios. Through a series of platform mechanisms, sequences of lawless beats and bizarre and hilarious boss fights, you will navigate your character (which can range from a furry and furry Lucha Libre fighter to a frantic screaming chicken) going through a huge set of interconnected labyrinths. You'll discover new skills and ongoing improvements to help you win battles, access new domains and even tag friends in multiplayer mode. It's a familiar kind with an excellent new coat of paint and there's really nothing else.
24. Puyo Puyo Tetris
Down two places from our list of fall 2018.
Perfect marriage of two excellent and timeless puzzles, Puyo Puyo Tetris is a feature-rich collection worthy of being installed on every switch. In 1989, no GameBoy was complete without Tetris and the same feeling remains with the modern Nintendo handheld.
From our review: The Puyo Puyo Tetris, beautifully presented, has a ton of content, a really fun multiplayer mode with lots of variations, and is very easy to play and play with just about anybody despite the little ones balance problems. The Nintendo Switch is also an excellent platform for her, with its non-threatening portability and Joy-Con controllers.
23. The craft world of Yoshi
New in our list of the 25 best!
Yoshi's Crafted World is a pretty original Nintendo platformer, but that does not mean it's not a pleasure to play. It's charming and creative, it changes the mechanics and obstacles in front of you on almost every level. This time, Yoshi can also wear over 170 adorable costumes, ranging from pirate trains and boats to garbage cans and coffins.
Our Review: Yoshi's Crafted World is an engaging and charming platform game that is definitely worth playing, but it misses an obvious opportunity to be more than that by not taking full advantage of its smarter ideas.
22. Captain Toad's treasure tracker
Down a place from our fall 2018 list.
Some people say that there are too many Wii U ports for Switch. These people have never played Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker. This phenomenal fallout is charming, stimulating and downright cute on any platform at any time. I mean, look at his little jacket!
According to our review: Treasure Tracker still seems almost unique and is gaining new life on both of Nintendo's current systems. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a rare example of a game that really feels better after a few years. Always as smart, prettier than ever and, in retrospect, really important in Nintendo's modern history.
21. Warframe
New in our list of the 25 best!
Warframe finally arrived at Switch end 2018 and I could not be happier. It's an often overlooked cooperative action game that can be quickly summed up as "space ninjas," but it has undoubtedly grown beyond this nickname over the years. You can rush into space ships at breakneck speed, crush and shoot down enemies with dozens of different weapons, fly over and explore vast areas of the open world, and more recently even follow a surprisingly captivating story from the beginning of Warframe. .
Our review: Warframe is not an easy game of approach, but it is a game with which it is worth to get acquainted. It's a game that keeps growing at a developer passionate about working with his community. It's also amazing to play, with a satisfying kill-collector-craft loop that relies on a mountain of player choices and a wonderfully responsive motion mechanics.
20. Fortnite
Down eight places from our list of autumn 2018.
Fortnite Air sends 100 players to a giant, chaotic battlefield where you hit each other with cartoon hammers, drive golf carts, shoot rockets and build forts, of course. As the card decreases, your chances of survival increase until one player is the last to stay. It's addictive, incredibly fun and totally free, until you decide to spend a bunch of V-Bucks on backpacks and wacky costumes, that's it.
From our review: Mastering the many Fortnite Battle Royale systems is worth every second of investment. Whether you're on your own or queuing with a team, even if you're the first to die or you can win the Victory Royale, Fortnite's wacky style and unique blend of fire and construction make it easy for you. almost never offers anything less than an exceptional time. .
19. Dark Souls Remastered
New in our list of the 25 best!
Nothing will prepare you for your first FromSoftware game. The anguish of repeated defeats and the triumphant ecstasy of beating a boss on which you've been stuck for hours are the hallmarks of the Dark Souls franchise, and you can now face that emotional roller coaster on the road … If you feel like starting your Switch by frustration. Yes, these games are hard like hell, but the construction of the world and the sense of accomplishment are unmatched. The improvements in frame rate and the incredible Artorias of the Abyss DLC make it the definitive version of this exhausting classic.
From our review: Dark Souls Remastered is a technically better version of an already outstanding game. If the Switch version sometimes lacks some high-end features available on other platforms, it does not present a less pristine version of the original and adds significantly the captivating dimension and exciting to explore Lordran on a portable device.
18. hollow knight
No change! Always very good.
Hollow Knight can be incredibly demanding, but you get a lot more in return than what you put in it. The Hallownest Kingdom, designed by experts, represents an absurd number of paths to explore, leaders to fight and secrets to discover. All this is drawn in a dark but expressive artistic style that gives adorable insects who live their lives and tell their stories.
From our review: Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania with a bunch of content to discover as deep as its labyrinthine caves. The world of Hallownest is fascinating and rich, rich in history that you still have to discover for yourself, and built with branched paths that offer an absurd amount of choice in the way to discover it.
17. Pokemon Let Go!
New in our list of the 25 best!
The return to Kanto in Pokemon's Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee turns out to be a charming little nostalgic trip, dressed in new mechanics, fresh graphics and adorable partners. You must always catch them in this fun and playful RPG adventure, but this time you have the opportunity to actively avoid these plentiful troglodyte Zubat.
From our review: Back to Kanto in Pokemon: Let's go, Pikachu! or Evoli! The Pokemon Go capture system is a more relaxing way to fill the Pokedex and look for experience, and I have never felt more confident. as if I missed battles because of that. Kanto is littered with charismatic coaches ready to fight.
16. Wargroove
New in our list of the 25 best!
Wargroove is a top-notch tactical game with great pixel art graphics. It offers what Advance Wars fans have been looking for for a century in a medieval package. However, he still manages to stand out with tons of gameplay changes and stylistic choices. Positioning is important in Wargroove, and its brilliant campaign will certainly test your ability to set up Crits and move with care thanks to a pretty competent AI. But more than what already exists, Wargroove shines so brightly thanks to what is yet to come. It has a very easy-to-use level and campaign editor and can create just about any map, story (with custom cutscenes) or scenarios imaginable.
According to our review: Wargroove is the successor of Advance Wars that its long-neglected fans have been waiting for. It faithfully revives the tactics for which I loved this series while putting a lot of his side into the concept. When you add extra modes, loads to unlock, and an amazing level editor, it's a game that excites me to continue playing well beyond his campaign.
15. Monster Hunter Ultimate Generations
Down four places from our list of fall 2018.
The Nintendo Switch provides the best of both * worlds * with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. You can play using a comfortable Pro controller, but you can also kill his more than 100 monsters in person with friends. In addition to the ridiculous amount of packaged content, you can also play as an adorable alpacas for cats and pets.
Our review: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate brings together the majority of the monsters in the series in a single film for a long and exciting hunting adventure. Even though it's a later date than Monster Hunter: World, it's an excellent starter tour for the old style of the franchise.
14. New Super Mario Bros. U
New in our list of the 25 best!
Of course, Nintendo may have used the "New Super Mario" aesthetic too often since its launch on the Nintendo DS in 2006, but under the poppy and saccharine presentation of this jewel port of the Wii U are dozens of 2D levels robust and intelligent. which make the best multiplayer mode in local cooperation on Switch. Add the included content New New Super Luigi U – a set of even more chaotic steps that redouble their importance by halving the time allotted (and encouraging you to play them as Luigi, a strange and rebellious man who jumps strangely) and you have one. the best platform packages out there.
From our review: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a very accessible and feature-rich platform game. Toadette is a welcome addition to the list of players after finding a more forgiving way to tackle the most challenging levels, and the inclusion of the New Super Luigi U mode greatly extends its lifespan.
13. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
New in our list of the 25 best!
Retro's second appearance in their Donkey Kong Country series is just as charming and inspiring as the Rare SNES trilogy. The original Wii U Switch port offers an easy mode with Funky Kong, but retains all the white knuckle-shaped platform that made Tropical Freeze's success in 2014. Boasting the best boss fights and the most challenging original of the last decade, and a charming Saturday morning cartoon style, it's a must on Nintendo Switch.
From our review: Donkey Kong: The addition of Funky mode to Tropical Freeze makes it more accessible without reducing the formidable difficulty of a platform walk in the park. There are still many challenges to overcome, even with the additional help of Donkey's Funky Uncle. But the Switch version manages to take just enough advantage over an exhausting game to let the fun platform outperform its difficulties.
12. Chronicles of Xenoblade 2
Down two places from our list of fall 2018.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from Monolith Soft is widely regarded as one of the best JRPG ever made. You will never want to leave Alrest, even after spending more than 100 hours exploring its huge open world. You play as Rex, a lifeguard turned hero and "pilot" of the legendary Blade Pyra. The characters are extremely well written, there are dozens of blades to unlock, all with their own appearance and their own personality, and the combat system is satisfying and complex.
From our review: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an out-of-the-ordinary RPG that keeps its story, battles and exploration interesting over 70 hours of adventures across a rich and diverse world. In simple terms, it's an excellent game that features challenging, memorable battles and a positive message.
11. Stardew Valley
Down two places from our list of fall 2018.
Stardew Valley is a wonderfully open farm simulation. You will trace your own country way by fishing, fighting, cultivating and falling in love. Plus, being able to take advantage of the switch's sleep mode means you can not spare in the middle of the day, even if some port bugs are still waiting to be crushed.
From our review: Stardew Valley is a beautiful and fun game that, when all its parts are assembled, is a wonderful country adventure. Even 100 hours with three years of playing in books, I still have the impression of having so many mysteries to discover and lots of collectibles. New elements, goals and events from all the updates since its launch make Stardew Valley more welcoming to new players and extend its life for seasoned farmers. The fantastic multiplayer mode is that the icing on the cake of this wonderful agricultural role-playing game.
