Apple's iPad line has been recently completed: the IPad Air 10.5 inches and the new IPad Mini 7.9 inches. Both are basically the same iPad in two different sizes, with slightly different prices. I've been using the Mini Update for a few weeks and this is not always perfectly suited to my needs.
But the idea of a small iPad is not crazy. Nor choose this particular iPad Mini. In fact, there are advantages to consider. They became even clearer after more time with the tablet. These are my favorite features.

He has a headphone jack!
the new iPad Pro models went to USB-C and gave up the 3.5mm headphone connection unless you used a dongle. It's much nicer to just have a jack on board. I mostly use wireless headphones now, of course, but it's still useful.

Before the latest iPad, the least expensive iOS device equipped with the A12 was $ 750 iPhone XR. $ 400 for an iPad Mini is a way to almost half price if you want performance.
It's really easy to wear
The tweener's size of the Mini looks more like a slim booklet than a mini-notebook and is a lighter travel companion. It's easy to hold in one hand or slip into a jacket pocket. No, it is not as small as a phone, but it's much less bulky than the big iPad.

Get artistic with a pencil stand
Most artists will definitely prefer a larger iPad screen size. But the A12 and Pencil handsets mean it could work as a portable work device for artists. But only if you agree with the 7.9-inch work area.
You can keep your old accessories
It is disappointing that the new Mini has not tried to reinvent the screen-body ratio nor to find a more organic way to insert a pencil. But as it is the same size as the iPad Mini 4, there are many old cases and accessories in which it can be inserted. This could be useful for budget purchases.
Wild card: battery life?
Until now, in the battery tests, the iPad Mini behaves surprisingly well. It lasts well over 10 hours when playing streaming videos. But note that these are early returns and we will have more details later.
You may not need an iPad Mini, but it also has a handful of benefits in its corner.
