Beverley Owen, the actress best known for creating the character of Marilyn on the sitcom "The Munsters" died at the age of 81.

His co-star Butch Patrick, who plays Eddie Munster in the beloved comedy of the 1960s, confirmed Owen's death in the US TODAY Monday, saying "she's gone." A day earlier, he had gone on Facebook to pay tribute to the actress.

"The beautiful Beverly (sic) Owen has passed away, what a sweet soul," he wrote on Sunday. "I had the biggest crush on her – RIP Bev and thank you for your 13 memorable episodes of Marilyn Munster."

Polly Stone, Owen's daughter, told TMZ that her mother had died of ovarian cancer at her home in Vermont on February 21 while she was surrounded by friends and loved ones. family members. The actress was reportedly diagnosed in January 2017, but would not have disclosed her illness to the public.

The native of Iowa appeared in 13 episodes of "The Munsters", centered on a sweet family of adorable monsters, including versions of Frankenstein's monster, Dracula and the Wolfman – or, in this case, Wolfboy.

Owen left the series to marry author and producer Jon Stone. (They were married from 1966 to 1974.) She was replaced by actress Pat Priest.

The deceased actress is survived by her daughters, Polly and Kate.
