The Adam Sandler tribute to Chris Farley on "SNL" has made us all emotional

Sandler closed the series with a musical tribute to the actor and comrade of the group "SNL", Chris Farley, who died in 1997 from an accidental overdose of cocaine and morphine. Farley was 33 years old.

The song, originally performed by Sandler on Netflix's "100% Fresh" show, referred to some of SNL's most famous characters and drawings, such as motivational speaker Matt Foley, animators Gap Girls and Lunch Lady Land.

"It was a one-man group, you know I'm talking, I'm talking about my friend Chris Farley," he sings.

Sandler faced Farley's heavy drinking and worry when friends warned him that he would end up like John Belushi and John Candy.

"He said," These guys are my heroes, I'm fine, dandy, "sings Sandler.

Sandler also recalled a time when he saw Farley crying in the office while he was listening to a KC song and Sunshine Band. When Sandler asked why the song made him sad, Farley said it reminded him of his father.

Finally, Sandler sang Farley's story, claiming that his children were still laughing at Farley's YouTube clips and the movie "Tommy Boy."

"And when they ask me who is the funniest guy I know, I tell them hands down, no doubt, it's you."

"It was amazing, look at it if you missed it, look at it again, even if you saw it the first time," wrote Dave Itzkoff, culture journalist at the New York Times.

"It's great, @AdamSandler, you've brought it back for a few minutes," said NBC host Willie Geist.

"No, you're crying about Chris Farley's homage to Adam Sandler," wrote Avery Thompson.
