SOUTH PARK, Pennsylvania – Authorities say a church administrator from western Pennsylvania stole $ 1.2 million that he had used with his wife to pay for a vacation , sports tickets and other personal expenses.

According to the Allegheny District Attorney's Office, David Reiter, 50, of South Park, is charged with theft, forgery and concealment of stolen property. His wife, 44, Connie Reiter, faces two counts of concealing stolen property.

Authorities say the money was stolen from the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair for about 17 years.

David Reiter was the church's administrator since 2001. The authorities claim that he falsified accounting data and created a bogus auditor who he said was running church exams.

The couple appeared for the first time in court Tuesday but did not plead its case. It is not known whether they retained the services of lawyers.
