OAKLAND, Calif. – The Raiders are making progress on a lease agreement to keep the Oakland Coliseum team for at least another season.

Scott McKibben, director of the Coliseum Authority, said Monday that both parties were holding "good constructive talks" to finalize a new lease for 2019 with an option for 2020. But McKibben said there were details to be settled before that a contract can be concluded the board for approval. McKibben says it could happen by the end of next week.

The Raiders were looking for a home for 2019 before moving to Las Vegas to play in a new stadium with a budget of $ 1.8 billion and a capacity of 65 000 places. The team had withdrawn from the lease extension talks after Oakland sued the Raiders and the NFL after the planned move to Las Vegas.

But with the team planning to practice at its Alameda facility in 2019, staying in the San Francisco Bay Area has always been the number one priority. The Raiders talked about sharing a stadium with the San Francisco Giants, but the 49ers opposed it. The Raiders could also consider sharing the Levi stadium with the 49ers, although owner Mark Davis has opposed this option.

The Raiders were not immediately available to comment on the progress of the discussions.

The NFL must have a definitive answer as to the position of the Raiders in order to establish a schedule for the upcoming season. The calendar should be published in April.
