The man accused of killing Mackenzie Lueck was officially charged on Wednesday. Prosecutors revealed during a press conference that the student at the University of Utah was found dead with her arms tied in the back "by a tie and a rope" and that she hole of thumb in his skull.

Salt Lake District Attorney Sim Gill said Alooya Ajayi had been charged with aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, obstruction of justice and desecration of a human body. The remains of the 23-year-old student were exhumed on Wednesday 80 miles north of Salt Lake City.

Lueck was last seen alive on June 17th near a park in Salt Lake City, and investigators said that Ajayi was the last person Lueck had communicated with before disappearing.

Gill told reporters Wednesday that a medical examiner had determined that she "had suffered blunt trauma to the left side of the skull, which had resulted in a major intracranial hemorrhage that would have been fatal."

A search of Ajayi's home before his recent arrest revealed a human bone, charred muscle tissue and a part of the scalp covered with hair, Gill said.

Investigators reportedly found Ajayi's cell phone in the Logan Canyon area where his body was found.

"After extensive research, the detectives have located a disturbed area of ​​soil under a grove of trees," Gill said. "Under the ground, the detectives have located a charred human body."

The DNA tests of these remains, said Gill, revealed that they were consistent with Lueck's DNA profile.

Ajayi, according to FOX13, is expected to appear before a judge in the coming days.
