HBO releases trailer for Allen v. Farrow, a documentary series that examines a sex allegation against Woody Allen that would become a public scandal.

Allen vs. Farrow will examine the scandal between Woody Allen and Mia Farrow. The acclaimed director and comedian had a twelve-year relationship with the actress and star of Rosemary baby, sharing three children, one of them being journalist Ronan Farrow. The relationship ended when Farrow discovered that Allen was having an affair with one of his adopted children, Andre Previn, Soon-Yi, whom Allen would later marry.

HBO now has a new documentary in its hands, dropping a trailer for Allen v. Farrow. The four-part documentary series is set for release on February 21, revealing details that were not previously known. The full trailer can be seen below:

In 1992, Allen was accused by one of his adopted children, Dylan Farrow, of sexual abuse. Allen has repeatedly denied the accusation, saying in interviews that his relationship with Soon-Yi Previn started the story as an act of revenge by Mia Farrow. The sex allegation has since been amplified by the Time’s Up movement and #MeToo, with Ronan Farrow being the focus of investigative reports similar to the allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein.

Many celebrities in the industry have long been divided specifically with Allen’s allegations, with some defending the director and others regretting working with him on films. Despite the rise of social movements and more and more conversations about sexual abuse brought to the forefront of the industry, Allen has still not been formally charged with wrongdoing. Although it is not known how many or what specific events Allen vs. Farrow will explore and analyze this serious question, HBO’s docuseries will take viewers back to when it all began when Farrow and Allen first met.
