The Apple Titanium card comes with a series of delusional maintenance instructions

The Apple Card, made of physical titanium, comes with its own cleaning and maintenance instructions – seriously. Having just released their credit card in the US, Apple has released a support page for the Apple Card detailing its cleaning and maintenance.

In the end, the Apple card requires more precautions than the regular credit card stored in your wallet. In fact, Apple would prefer that its titanium card does not reside at all in your wallet, especially if it's leather, like most wallets.

Apple's titanium Apple Card is actually covered with a white material. Apparently, this material may be subject to staining and discoloration which, if untreated, may be irreversible. Again, this is a credit card.

Wax and wax

First, cleaning the titanium Apple Card will require a "soft microfiber cloth, slightly moist and lint-free", followed by a "soft microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol". And you'd better not use any old household cleaner or abrasives.

In addition, Apple explicitly states that fabrics such as leather and denim can cause irreversible discoloration. It's almost as if this should have been taken into account when creating a product that most often lives in pockets of denim pants and leather wallets.

If you need to store your Apple Card in a place as pedestrian as a pants or a wallet, make sure that one or the other is "made of soft material" and that the card does not touch no other credit card.

Finally, avoid placing the Apple Titanium card near magnets or magnetized devices, as this may disable the magnetic stripe of the card.

On reflection, if Apple Card really lives in your iPhone, maybe do not worry about the physical Apple card?
