The astronaut takes a breathtaking view of Venus at sunrise

A photo of the Earth at sunrise shows Venus, our closest neighbor planet, shining above the glittering blue horizon of the Earth.

The image was captured by the NASA astronaut Christina Koch from the International Space Station (ISS).

Venus is the second planet of the sun, and it shines more than any other planet in the night sky. The blue hue of the photo is refraction of the sun in the atmosphere of our planet.

A separate time-lapse video released by NASA on June 3 shows an aerial view of the Earth during a sunset seen from the ISS. Since the station runs around our planet every 90 minutes, astronauts on board enjoy this view of the sunset 16 times a day, according to NASA.
