QUEENS, N.Y. – The Detroit The series of defeats of the tigers is over.

In the first game of a nine-game road trip, the Tigers broke their record and won a softball game against the New York Mets, 9-8.

The victory marks a series of nine consecutive defeats.

The Tigers (19-29) jumped right-footed Mets Noah Syndergaard early Friday night, scoring four points in the first two runs, but most of the time they kept up the pressure. They lost their head, drew, lost again, but they did it for good, with three points in the lead of the seventh inning.

In seventh place, JaCoby Jones scored twice and John Hicks led to victory. Jones had a career day: he also scored two points at Syndergaard's home early in the second and scored four RBIs, a career high. In the win, the Tigers achieved one of their most comprehensive offensive performances of the year, totaling 14 hits.

Two of those shots came from rookie Gregory Soto, who started out strong but lost strength in the fourth inning, leading the three-run home race against Adeiny Hechavarria.

It was a round-trip match with the ball coming out of Citi Field: the Tigers hit two homeruns – Miguel Cabrera scored his second of the year, and the Mets (24-26) totaled five homers – but unlike previous. two defeats, the Tigers were able to record the necessary outs to win.

Joe Jimenez allowed a home run in eighth place and, one day later After his first rescue of the season, closest Shane Greene scored his 16th save in the ninth.

Here are three observations:

It was not just the eight points on 14 hits, but the consistency in which the Tigers scored. They hit well but also ran on two sacrificial flies – Christin Stewart and Cabrera – and took the opportunity to score, scoring 5 out of 10 with riders in the scoring position. After spending a good part of May, Jones shows progress in his approach to the plate. He nearly hit a second homer in the ninth. Four Tigers – including Soto – recorded several hits. They won the match because they were able to answer the Mets' responses in the middle rounds.

Solid relief

Zac Reininger and Buck Farmer both dominated the solo net, but the biggest round of relief came in seventh when Victor Alcantara nearly cracked. Alcantara put the leader at the base at seventh but brought a double ball to the ground and escaped the inning. Jimenez continues to be bitten by the gopher ball, but he has kept it in advance.

The night of Soto

Making his third start, Soto took another step in comfort, looking better than in the first few heats of his previous two races. As in the fourth round of the Mets in the fourth set of the Mets, he is trapped. Soto allowed five runs on six hits in three sets and two-thirds, with one walk and four strikeouts. offensively, he has chosen Syndergaard twice, scoring the first Tiger launcher with many successes since Justin Verlander in 2014.
