It seems that the Audi R8 V10 mid-engine is based more on its Italian roots. Audi is offering the 2020 model of its premium supercar a full mid-cycle refresh, adding more power, cleaner styling and a few other tweaks to make its most exciting car as exciting as possible.
First and foremost, the front fascia receives a host of new styling changes, including a slightly larger front grille, a sharper front splitter with Lambo-like fins on the outside of the door openings. 39 lower ventilation and three small slats above the grille and under the hood. tribute to the Audi Sport Quattro, winner of the World Rally Championship, in the 1980s.
At the rear, there is a larger ventilation area between the taillights and the rear bumper, and the tailpipes have more pronounced silver-lined accommodations with a large rear divider in between.
The other changes are under the hood – or back cover, should we say – where Audi continues to proudly say "nein, danke" to the turbochargers. The 5.2-liter V10 continues to be offered in two horsepower, this time with 562 horsepower and 406 lb. of engine torque, an increase of 30 horsepower and 8 pounds over last year.
As for the R8 Performance model, it brings heat to 611 horsepower and 417 lb-ft, an increase of nine horses and four pound-feet over last year. The basic model therefore clearly gets the best part of the transaction.
In terms of technology upgrades, the R8 remains performance-centric, with a number of software changes that, according to Audi, will enhance the driving experience, such as three new profiles in the driving mode selector for Dry, wet and snowy conditions adjust the stability control settings that help reduce the stopping distance of the car.
