The Chicago suburban manufacturing warehouse, where five people were shot dead, will not reopen until next week, but its doors will be open to support workers, company officials said Monday. .

The facilities of Henry Pratt Co. in Aurora, Illinois, will be open for all employees wishing to spend time with their colleagues and advisers will be available, said spokeswoman Yolanda Kokayi. She said the warehouse would not return to full production until Feb. 25.

An employee of Henry Pratt, about to lose his job, opened fire on Friday at the warehouse, killing five colleagues and wounding five police officers. The gunman died in a shootout with the police.

"Lost lives are not just our employees, but also fathers, husbands, grandfathers, brothers, sons and our friends," Kokayi said in a statement sent Monday by email. "Their loss has left a huge void in us all."

The visit and the funeral of one of the victims, Trevor Wehner, will take place Wednesday in his hometown of Sheridan. Wehner, 21, was a business student at Northern Illinois University. He was killed on the first day of his internship with Henry Pratt.

Kokayi said the company will review security protocols and "evaluate ways to improve security." The company is also committed to covering the cost of funerals, the medical expenses of the victims and additional assistance to their families.

Mueller Water Products owns Henry Pratt.
