The Bears and Broncos played in the strangest match of the season on Sunday as Chicago left the city with a 16-14 win over Eddy Pineiro's last goal of 53 yards.
Although the first 59 minutes were painful to watch, the last minute was a work of art. It's not the beautiful type of art you've hung in a museum, but rather an ugly artwork that you jokingly show off with your friends.
The Broncos scored a touchdown to score a goal. They opted for two points but were called to delay the game. Then they missed the extra point, but the Bears were declared offside. Then the Broncos got the ball on the meter line, went for two and took the lead when Joe Flacco hit Emmanuel Sanders in the end zone.
Mitch Trubisky then rallied the Bears in the final seconds and put them in the FG position with a second to play. But he had a lot of help from the referees, who somehow described it as maltreating the smuggler:
How they called it with Bradley Chubb is beyond me, because it seems that Chubb was just playing football.
That gave the Bears 15 yards and a better chance of reaching the FG.
NFL fans were stunned:
Not very good for the NFL, which also had another bad decision in the Saints-Rams game.
But it was in no way possible that it brutalizes the passer against the Broncos.
