The Cincinnati Bengals were interested in a reunion with former first-round pick Kevin Zeitler during free will before the veteran signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Tyler’s dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the Bengals had made an attempt, but the offer “was not close” to the money Zeitler got in Baltimore.
Zeitler landed a three-year, $ 22 million contract to join the Ravens.
It’s a notable failure for the Bengals, as letting Zeitler go was one of the main missteps that led the team to take that position in the first place. Both guard points are issues and the team have since missed out on top free agents like Joe Thuney.
In a way, the return of Zeitler by the Bengals would have been poetic and an admission of problematic rostering lately. But Zeitler was apparently out of their price bracket, so now they’ll have to face him twice a year in the AFC North instead.
