Do the Best 30 Minute Workouts Offer the Perfect Workout Duration? It’s hard to tell, as your ideal workout will vary depending on the type of exercise, intensity, and a number of other factors. But when it comes to pure logistics, 30 minutes is a great workout time – it’s long enough that you feel like it’s worth a sweat, but short enough that you can do it for a while. your lunch break without skipping a meal.
Thirty minutes is also great for variety of workouts, as all of the hottest, trending High Intensity Interval (HIIT) and strength workouts seem to be between 20 and 40 minutes. But if you’re looking for the best 30-minute workouts to do at home, there may be too much lots of variety – there are thousands of courses on YouTube. Most of them are the same six or seven exercises repeated in different orders, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (it’s not like those exercises don’t get you in shape). However, it can be difficult to stay interested in training when you are doing the same thing over and over again.
We’ve gone through just about every popular home workout on YouTube and found the 10 Best 30 Minute Workouts that are interesting, easy to follow, and accessible at a range of fitness levels. Most of these classes do not require any equipment, but one of the best yoga mats will make things more comfortable.
Best 30-minute workouts
1. 30 Minute Home Fat Burning Workout For Beginners
Equipment: Light dumbbells (optional)
This low impact all round workout is designed for beginners and is very accessible. This is a great introductory workout for anyone just starting out (or getting back into shape). It also makes a good warm-up before something more intense, like weight training. The video is fully narrated and designed to be watched closely. You’ll want to make sure that your setup allows you to watch the on-screen instructor throughout the course.
2. Gentle Yoga Flow: 30-minute all-level yoga class
Equipment: Yoga mat
Yoga workouts can be difficult to follow in real life, let alone on YouTube. It is not always easy to see what an instructor is doing as you twist your body in different positions. This all-around yoga workout is one of the best 30-minute workouts because it’s extremely well narrated – you shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring out what to do based solely on the voice of the instructor, even if it is. is your very first time. yoga.
3. 30-minute Latin dance cardio workout
Equipment: No
Dance workouts are my favorite type of cardio workout because I’m a terrible dancer but I love good challenges. Latin dancing makes for particularly effective cardio because there is so much movement. You will sweat, even if you have no sense of rhythm. This comprehensive workout also includes a warm-up and cooldown. It’s narrated as well, but you’ll want to be able to see what’s happening onscreen as you follow.
4.30 minutes of HIIT Complete Body Fat Burning: Abs, Arms, Thighs & Legs
Equipment: No
No space? No Excuses: This 30-minute interval workout includes all standing exercises, so you don’t need an exercise mat or enough space to fully stretch. That said, there is a lot of arm swing, so you’ll want to a few space out. It is also one of the best tabata workouts to do outside, because there is neither sitting nor lying. The video is fully narrated and features visual / audio cues (timer, countdown beeps, workout names), making it easy to keep track of whatever your workout setup is.
5. 30-minute full body workout (without equipment)
Equipment: Yoga mat
It’s hard to keep cardio interesting. HIIT is a great way to mix up the monotony of traditional cardio, but the intervals can also get repetitive. It’s not true interval training – instead, it goes through a variety of exercises and regular breaks. You can do this without any equipment, but there is enough movement on the floor that it is a good idea to take an exercise mat. This full body workout is not told; there are visual signals (timer, names of exercises) and audio signals (countdown). You’ll need to be able to see the screen to know what’s coming, especially since this is not typical interval training.
6. 30-minute Strong Nation lesson
Equipment: No
Strong Nation is a Zumba-branded workout that perfectly syncs HIIT movements with the background music. The result is an intense futuristic workout that matches the pace so well, you’ll feel like you’re part of a video game. Needless to say, it’s pretty motivating, even if you have a rhythmic challenge. This is HIIT workout, but it mostly includes strength and plyometrics (jumping) exercises, so it’s a nice change of pace from the usual endless continuous flow of cardio at home. You won’t need any equipment for this workout, but there is a lot of jumping and movement in general. I recommend doing this on a surface that isn’t extremely difficult to protect your joints, if possible.
7. 30 Minute Full Body Dumbbell Workout
Equipment: Dumbbells, yoga mats
The best adjustable dumbbells are a staple of any home gym setup, but they won’t help you get in shape if you don’t use them. This full body barbell workout is one of the best 30 minute workouts for people looking to incorporate dumbbells into an intense cardio routine. You only need a pair of weights for this workout (and if you don’t have dumbbells, you can certainly substitute for homemade weights). It’s not intimidating – it’s still mostly cardio workout, just with weights.
8. 30 Minute Home Dumbbell Workout
Equipment: Dumbbells, yoga mats
Let’s go ahead and get into strength training with this intense full body barbell workout. This workout consists of 30 different exercises, performed at 40 second intervals, with 20 seconds of rest. It doesn’t include a warm-up or cooldown, but it’s a great workout for all skill levels. This is a barbell workout so most of the exercises are complimentary and relatively safe / easy to learn on your own. This creative routine includes a variety of combined exercises, so even seasoned strength trainers will find new moves to keep things interesting. For this workout, you will need at least a pair of dumbbells (although you may want multiple weights for different exercises), as well as a training mat / surface and enough space to move around.
9. 30 minute home arm workout (dumbbells only)
Equipment: Dumbbells, incline bench
Arm work is often done with dumbbells anyway, so you don’t necessarily sacrifice anything by working out at home instead of a “real” gym. This workout consists of six exercises organized into three supersets and can be performed at home or in the gym. You’ll need a pair of medium-heavy dumbbells (although it’s best if you have a set so you can increase the weight with each set) and an incline bench. If you don’t have an incline bench, you can achieve a similar incline using a Swiss ball. Unlike most of the other best 30 minute workouts on this list, this is not a full workout video. The instructor explains and shows each exercise and goes through the first set, but you will need to pause the video and complete additional sets before continuing.
10. 30-minute plyo workout
Equipment: 18 inch box
Plyometric workouts don’t get enough love – maybe because jumping destroys your knees and / or is impossible if you already have bad knees. Still, they’re a great way to strengthen both your muscles and bones. This plyo workout consists of seven exercises, several of which use an 18-inch box; if you don’t have a box at home, you can jump on anything as long as it is stable. It’s also a great workout to do outdoors, as park benches are great for jumping. You’ll want to make sure you’re doing this on a surface suitable for jumping, like grass or anything that isn’t concrete.
