The best advice I received from Bernie Sanders

In a new interview, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told Rolling Stone that, although she and Bernie Sanders have not been drinking beer since she arrived in Capital Hill, she had the opportunity to ask her opinion during his campaign.

Ocasio-Cortez recently confirmed that she will join the House Financial Services Committee, which oversees the financial services sector. California representative Maxine Waters took over the presidency of the committee, which will now include other first year Democrats, including Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Pressley, Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib and California Representative Katie Porter.

"That was one of my top three choices – it's a pretty powerful committee for what it can regulate." I'm excited about it, "said Ocasio-Cortez during the interview.

She has previously stated that the House Financial Services Committee has traditionally been a "fund committee" to help members of Congress raise funds for their re-election nominations. But she promised that the new Democratic members would change the function of the committee. "I can not emphasize the importance of this moment," she tweeted in January. "Dems put members who rejected corporate campaign funds in a committee overseeing Wall St."

This is not the first time Sanders has given advice to the new Congressman, who worked on his 2016 presidential campaign. In July 2018, after Ocasio-Cortez ousted Democratic Democrat MP Joe Crowley, elected for 10 years, Sanders has declared on the CBS show "Face the Nation that she should" continue to do what she's done. "

"She has led an extraordinary campaign," Sanders told the program. "And the reason she won was that she used ideas that interested workers in her district, she set up a strong field campaign and worked tirelessly."
