Saturday, June 6th is National Fried Chicken Day, but for me, every day should be a fried chicken day. It's one of my three desert island foods, with donuts and barbeque, and I can not imagine a world without it.

This may seem shocking, but fried chicken brings in more money than burgers in the fast food sector. According to Business Insider, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, fried chicken was widely considered unhealthy. This changed about three years ago when consumers began to think of fried chicken as rather healthy.

Whether it's good or bad for you, fried chicken is indisputable. It's one of the biggest and most guilty pleasures of comfort food. And with four pieces (chest, wing, thigh, wand) usually costing 6-7 dollars, it's dinner at the right price.

We've put together a list of the best joints in N.J.'s wings and it's time to give fried chicken a chance. I spent a week driving all over the state to eat fried chicken in restaurants, storefronts, stalls, even in farmers' markets. Here is a list, based on this trip and on a previous experience, of the best fried chicken stains of the state. They are not classified. And it's only fried chicken from the south, no Korean or any other type.
