As a result of the iPhone event, Apple is taking the final steps before publishing iOS 13 to the public. It offers a new dark mode, improvements in stock applications, better privacy controls and more.
After the event, Apple announced that iOS 13 would be available on September 19. The company will then update its iOS 13.1 devices with additional software features on September 30th.
A note on the version iOS 13 and iPadOS 13
For the first time, Apple divides the iOS version into two. iOS 13 for iPhone and iPadOS 13 for iPad. We have already explained how iPadOS 13 almost turns the iPad into a real computer. In this article, we will focus only on the specific features of the iPhone.
Apple is about to release iOS 13 on the iPhone 6 and above. To check if the update is available on your iPhone, go to Settings> General> Software Update.
Dark mode
It's the big one. The one for which you will press the update button. iOS 13 brings a system-wide dark mode that reverses the script: white text on a black background.
It uses a real black theme, which means that the background of many applications is black. On iPhones with OLED displays (iPhone X, XS and XS Max), this image is exceptionally beautiful because black pixels do not light up. This could also help save a little of battery life.
To activate dark mode, go to the Control Center, hold down the Brightness slider, and press the "Dark Mode" button.
You can also configure a schedule by selecting Settings> Display and Brightness> Schedule. You can enable dark mode depending on the sunset or a custom program.
Just like macOS Mojave, the dark mode switch extends to apps and websites (in Safari). If the app or the website supports it, they will automatically switch between light and dark appearance.

New Photos tab
Apple makes it easy to browse your photo collection by organizing them by year, month, and day. When you open the Photos application in iOS 13, a new "Photos" tab appears in the lower toolbar. Tap on it and you will see four sections: Years, Months, Days and All photos.
Apple intelligently selects the best photos in your library. You'll find auto-play videos and live photos as you scroll. Fortunately, the screenshots and downloaded images do not make the difference with this feature.
The Year section displays your best picture of the given day from all previous years, making it a simpler alternative to Timehop.
New photo and video editor
When you access the Edit menu while viewing a photo or video, you find a new editor. The redesigned photo editor presents a simpler, Instagram-style interface. Below the image, you will notice a carousel of editing tools. Select a tool, then use the slider to set the intensity.
iOS 13 also adds new editing tools to adjust Vibrance, white balance, sharpness, definition, noise reduction and thumbnail. In addition, Apple now allows iPhone owners to set the intensity of the filters.
In the new video editor, you can quickly change the format, trim, or rotate a video. The video editor also has its own set of adjustment tools that allows you to increase the exposure and apply filters to your video.
All changes to photos and videos are now non-destructive. You can return to the original media at any time.
Download files in Safari
You can now download files with Safari. When you encounter a download link, tap it to display a pop-up asking if you want to download the file. Press the "Download" button to bring up a new Downloads icon in the toolbar. From there, you can monitor, control and open all downloads.
By default, downloaded files are placed in the Downloads folder of your iCloud player. You can switch to local storage on your iPhone by going to Settings> Safari> Downloads and choosing "On my iPhone".
Tighter access controls and Bluetooth access
Some malicious apps use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi data as a workaround to track the position of your iPhone. In iOS 13, you can now disable Bluetooth access for applications you do not trust. This has nothing to do with the use of Bluetooth devices for audio playback. Some apps (such as Google Apps) require Bluetooth access to connect to accessories such as Chromecast.
iOS 13 also reorganizes the Location Services feature significantly. An application can no longer access constant tracking of the background location instantly after it is installed. When you first see the pop-up access window, the "Always Allow" button will no longer be available.
Instead, the options are now "Allow when using the application", "Allow once" and "Do not allow". "Allow once" is a new feature that will stop access to the location when you leave the application (which is great for applications like Uber that are known to exploit this feature).
You can select "Allow while using an application" to grant access to a location when using the application. The application can always ping and ask for your location in the background. When you have done this several times, you will see a pop-up window with a map showing how often the application has requested your location.

Memoji Stickers
iOS 13 will automatically create a sticker pack for each Memoji character. This is the version of Apple's Bitmoji stickers. You can find the stickers in the application Memoji Stickers in the application Messages.
The Memoji and Animoji stickers will be available in the Emoji menu of the keyboard so you can access them in any email application. Apps like WhatsApp will add support for Memoji stickers, while unsupported apps will allow you to send them as images.
A better map application
The Maps app is undergoing a major overhaul in iOS 13. With the new mapping project from Apple, mapping data from popular cities in the West has been significantly improved. Apple will make the same improvements to more parts of the world as its mapping project progresses.
The Maps application now has a Favorites section where you can select a location for quick access. You can also use the Collections feature to create a collection of places you want to visit.
The Maps application also has its own Google Maps Street View type feature called Look Around. When you are in a supported location, you can tap the "Binoculars" icon to enter immersive mode. Pan and drag to move around the city you are exploring.
A brand new application of reminders
The Reminders app in iOS 13 boasts a well-deserved redesign. After opening the app, you are now greeted by a dashboard with smart lists at the top. You can create multiple grouped lists, each of which can contain tasks and subtasks with rich media attachments.
One of the best features of the new Reminders application is the suggested dates. This is Apple's version of natural language input that you find in apps like Todoist and TickTick.
It's much easier to create reminders with a date and time. You can type something like "See you at the doctor tomorrow at 5 pm" and the message "Tomorrow at 5 pm" will appear as a deadline suggestion. Tap on it and it will instantly be added to the reminder.
Audio Sharing for AirPod
If you and your friend both own a pair of AirPod or PowerBeats Pro headphones, you can now connect them to a single iPhone and share the sound on both devices. If you both have the latest iPhone, you can simply place your friend's handset on your own to get an audio sharing pop-up.
You can also do this manually by pairing a second pair of AirPods with your iPhone. Briefly open the AirPod case and then press and hold the round button on the back of the case. Tap "Connect" on your iPhone.
Once paired, the AirPods appear in the AirPlay menu. Just select the second pair to share the audio.
Silence Unknown Callers

New text editing gestures
iOS 13 makes the text manipulation of the iPhone much simpler. The first change allows you to type and hold the cursor to pick it up and move it.
