FLINTON – Memories are made on the homecoming, but Bellwood-Antis produced all the positive memories of the Glendale homecoming on Friday night at Dr. Roy F. Baker Field.

The Blue Devils, now 5-0, dominated on both sides of the ball. They built a 35-0 halftime lead, amassing 374 total yards and 278 rushing. BA’s strong defense limited the Vikings to a first down and 16 total yards and had three assists in a 42-0 game.

“I thought our children had done a very good job in all areas, offensively and defensively”, BA coach Nick Lovrich said. “I thought we were flying towards the ball. We did what we wanted to do on offense. We spread the ball around us.

Blue Devil running back Connor Gibbons scored three rushing touchdowns. Cooper Guyer, Gaven Ridgway and Brandon Cherry also had rushed TDs. Quarterback Zach Pellegrine completed 7 of 9 passes for 96 yards.

Players of the game: Guyer, an agile 6-0, 245-pound senior, used a spin to pierce the field on a 21-yard touchdown run to make it 21-0. BA’s entire defense limited the Vikings to a first down and 16 yards overall.

Player of the game: Gibbons ran 160 yards on 13 carries, scoring on 14, 22 and 12 carries. He also had a 53-yard rush in the first game of the second half.

“I think today was the most difficult I have seen (Gibbons) run all season”, Lovrich said. “It just seemed like he had some extra gear today. This is something that later down the road you will need your back to do. I think he’s comfortable there. I thought he was playing really well.

Unsung Heroes: The Bellwood-Antis offensive line has opened some gaping holes.

Most Vital Stats: The Blue Devils amassed 278 rushing yards and 374 total yards. BA’s defense caught three assists.

Glendale coach Dave “Spank” Trexler: “Bellwood is Bellwood. Year after year, they are still good. They are well supervised. It’s a great program. And if you are not ready to play, they will do what they do. I take my hat off to them. They rolled. They don’t make mistakes. We weren’t ready to play.

Notable: Suds Dubler, who was named Reunion King, and Zeke Dubler were limited to a combined meter in nine races. … Aubrey Jasper has been named the reunion queen. … Sean Mallon, Guyer and Gaven Ridgway were intercepted by BA. … Eleven different Blue Devils made a rushed attempt.

Records: Bellwood-Antis (5-0); Glendale (2-3).

Next week: Bellwood-Antis welcomes Curwensville. Glendale visits Tussey Mountain.
