A Boeing 737-800 made an emergency landing at McGhee Tyson Airport on Sunday morning.

Delta Air Lines flight 1417 landed at the airport at 9:17 am, after the crew reported a nose gear problem, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The flight took off from the Tennessee Tri-Cities Airport and was heading to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when crew members declared the state of emergency .

"Delta apologizes to customers of flight 1417 linking Tri-Cities to Atlanta, which was bumped to Knoxville as a precaution as a result of a potential mechanical problem," said a spokesman for Delta in a statement.

"The aircraft has landed and landed at the gate normally and is being inspected by maintenance technicians."

The 129 customers on board the flight were relocated to another plane for a faster departure to Atlanta, the spokesman added.

The FAA will continue its research.
