Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Braves and Yankees are the favorites to engage left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel.
According to one source, the Yankees and Braves would be favorites to sign Dallas Keuchel. It is believed that both teams are in the same zone with their offers at the moment.

Feinsand then reported, however, that another source believed that the Yankees were the real favorite of the Keuchel contest.
A second source thinks that the Yankees will land at Dallas Keuchel and that they are becoming the real favorites of the former winner of Cy Young.

Keuchel is a free agent since the decline in the Astros' qualifying offer at the end of the season. This meant that any team that signed it before the MLB draft would lose a draft pick and the corresponding money. However, now that the project is underway, these restrictions are lifted and teams can sign Keuchel (and Craig Kimbrel) without penalty. It has long been expected that the Keuchel market will warm up once the project is launched.
The Braves would have sought to add another starting pitcher to the rotation to try to keep Mike Soroka and Max Fried fresh for the entire season and, hopefully, the playoffs. Soroka was closed in 2018 due to a problem in the shoulder, which he worsened during spring training this year. Fried has already been operated by Tommy John and has never launched more than 120 innings in the professional season.
Stay tuned.
