Yasmani Grandal guided the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The win erases a three-game losing streak after the Brewers were swept by the Angels earlier this week.
Grandal marked the start of the first run with a single to Lorenzo Cain. Then Grandal would score a two-run run in the fifth inning, giving the Brewers a 6-6 lead. Milwaukee would never look back to win.
The beginning of Corbin Burnes was still fragile. The first-year starter lasted only 4.1 innings and dropped the 5 innings of Dodger. Burnes continued to have problems with the long ball, giving up three points overall in his short run to nine in the short season.
The office worked together to pick up Burnes. Matt Barnes released Burnes in fifth place and got two solid outs in a clean round. Then Alex Claudio, Junior Guerra, Josh Hader and Alex Wilson combined for four run-free ball races where they only allowed five base runners.
Hader had more problems than he normally had when he went out. The Milwaukee Nine vacuum cleaner allowed the riders to sneak into the eighth turns but escaped without injury. Counsell sent Haderade back to pick up Cody Bellinger in ninth place, then Alex Wilson finished.
Other highlights include the two produced points of Jesus Aguilar on a double fly and a flying fly. Mike Moustakas joined Grandal in the first leg with a single RBI and would score one point. Finally, Hernan Perez made two races with his second circuit of the year in the fourth.
Milwaukee sends Zach Davies (1-0, 1.69) to the mound for the second game of the series. The Dodgers still have not announced their starter. The first launch is at 20:10.
