The last home game of the season started tonight for the Milwaukee Brewers. Their opponent was the San Diego Padres, who have been in town for four games. Zach Davies started for the Brew Crew. Former Angels' Ace Garrett Richards won the Padres mound for the first time in 2019 after signing a two-year contract with Tommy John.
Milwaukee scored the first goal in this one. Ryan Braun opened the sleeve with a laser beam in the right field space, creating a brace. He progressed to third place thanks to Richards' wild pitch. Cory Spangenberg managed to put one goal in the center of Braun, and the Brewers were 1-0 down.
Zach Davies had some problems with the command to start the fourth inning. These command problems resulted in a walk to Manny Machado as the boo birds echoed throughout Miller Park. Eric Hosmer followed with a shot from the wall in the middle of the pitch that scored Machado and tied the score.
The Brewers responded in the lower half of the fourth. Ryan Braun has revived things with a single right. Eric Thames hit the right laser for a double and Cory Spangenberg brought the two riders back home with a triple on Wil Myers' head in the middle. The Brewers took the advantage 3-1.
The Brewers scored a fourth inning at the end of the fifth. Travis Shaw hit for Zach Davies. With 30 consecutive consecutive seasons in 2017 and 2018, 2019 has been a miserable season for the Brewers' third baseman. His pinch appearance was not a miserable experience. He launched a line of workout at home that exploded above the wall at 112.5 mph. It was his first home run in the big leagues in three months and hopefully a sign of good news.
Orlando Arcia delivered for the Brewers in the bottom of the sixth. With Lorenzo Cain in the front row, Arcia hit a rope that hit the left field wall. Arcia got the double and LoCain scored the fifth round of the night for Milwaukee.
Fastball Freddy Peralta replaced Davies on the mound and he was impressive in the following two innings. In the sixth and seventh innings, he withdrew four, including Mr. Machado, while walking one. The 96 batting Padres had a hard time catching Freddy Fastball.
Alex Claudio is busy with the eighth. Jay Jackson continues to impress players by scoring the goal to end the game in the ninth. Brewers roll and win 5-1
These two teams meet tomorrow night at Miller Park. The first launch is scheduled at 6:40. Chris Paddack will go for the Padres. Brandon Woodruff gets his first start in two months. He is likely to function more like a door opener or at least like a piggy starter with Gio Gonzalez in the loan behind him. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Wisconsin and heard on WTMJ.
