The Broncos, Chris Harris and the 2019 NFL Draft: The No Bull Review

[ad_1]

Honestly, I do not remember being as enthusiastic about a project as it is about this one. We had a resounding success last year with what the Broncos did. The Broncos have a choice among the top 10 to start. The Broncos have a new coach who owns NFL chops in the modern NFL football era and will entrust the architect with a new offensive.

It will be a crazy race and what I prefer in this year's draft is probably that more than any other year, I can really see Denver doing almost anything. The team has been predictable enough from year to year, especially during the first round. This year looks different.

A last discussion on the needs of the team

Do not hesitate to check out my article on the needs of the team during the free phase. Let's see what it is and move on to what else to expect from the project.

The Broncos have honestly placed them well in almost every area of the team leading up to this draft and have players ready to compete in all groups of personnel other than internal support. This has been a key point for Elway's mandate as GM. He always tries to have the least possible needs in the project and 2019 is no exception.

The position of Inside Linebacker is the one that matters most to me. For two years now, I say that the Broncos need help in this area and that they have not approached it independently, which suggests to me that the problem will be addressed in this year's project with the one of their first three choices.

The other need I think the team may have to answer is the tight end. I honestly wonder if the team still hopes to do something with the guys they have now … I just do not see it. I think the tight end is a coveted position for the team if I was the GM.

But what are they likely to expect?

The last hype about the Broncos at Choice 10 is that they will sue Bush out of Michigan and honestly, I do not think it's unrealistic.

The other big hype we've heard a lot about is Dalton Risner. He's an intriguing guy and a player the Broncos obviously love. I do not think you make a choice to 10, but if the Broncos find a favorable exchange, I'm sure it's a name we'll see maybe later in the first round.

Keep an eye on falling QBs, as always. Nobody seems to be really crazy about this year's class, but honestly, I think if Haskins falls to the Broncos at 10 am or if Lock falls further, the Broncos will be interested. I do not think this scenario is very likely, but rather interesting for us, as fans.

The last point I will do is to pay attention to the Broncos who spend a lot for a corner in this draft. If this happens, you can honestly embrace the favorite corner of the Bronco Country slot machine all the time in orange and blue farewells.

What an intriguing and irritating situation we imagined with the Broncos and CHJ. Remember that when this started to become a thing, I gave a good overview of both sides of the issue. Now we have seen this week Elway honestly dispel the situation that led CHJ to ask for an increase or an exchange.

My instinct tells me that all this is just part of the game and that it does not matter, but honestly, I've never been a fan of the players who did that by posting hot tweets in the media. I understand … it's a solid way to send a message … but for the team and the situation, I do not know how much it helps CHJ as a player.

The big problem here is that dragging the question in the public this way, it hurts the ability of the Broncos to get commercial value out of the player. So, good to you to stand up. I already said that I liked the gesture Chris had made to skip workouts. But I think this movement is going a bit far. I think it sounds more like an offensive agent to the guy and that it will not help Chris get the best situation possible.

In addition, it is very fair to say that Elway's comment on the issue at his press conference looked a little bit backward and that it was very pointless. The whole question of "requiring an exchange / an increase" is, in my opinion, a direct consequence of how Elway answered the question.

Finally, let me conclude the discussion with CHJ stating that no one in the Broncos country should whistle anyone on a site (including MHR) who indicates his or her age or is at risk of injury because of last year. He was back on the Pro Bowl four weeks after his break. He's one of the best technicians the NFL has ever seen in turns … and many great players played well in their thirties.

I understand … the player does not act as some would like. But do not let our feelings get in the way of reality. Whatever happens … if he signs and stays in the beloved Orange and Blue throughout his career or if he is traded, he is one of the best players in the NFL.

Last thoughts

I hope you all, in the Broncos region, have a good time with the repechage of the next few days. I like this stuff … hope is eternal and every guy we choose will be the next Phillip Lindsay or Bradley Chubb.

I'm looking forward to reviewing our tentative selections this weekend, once the dust settles and talk more about Bronco football with you all as we prepare for the 2019 NFL season.

Congratulations to you all in the Broncos country!
