Daniil Medvedev’s wife was the talk about the world of tennis during the Australian Open final, and a glare at her husband got fans into a frenzy.
The Russian star fell short of Novak Djokovic on Sunday night as the Serbian won his ninth Australian Open title with a 7-5 6-2 6-2 win.

COME CLEAN: Novak Djokovic reveals the truth about injuries
Medvedev made a frustrated figure with no response left to Djokovic’s masterful performance.
And the world No.4 let those frustrations spill over into the second set as he demolished his racquet in a burst of anger.
TV cameras immediately turned to Medvedev’s wife Daria, who shot her husband a stark look of disappointment from her dressing room on the court side.
Daria was also seen dejected at various stages of the game as her husband’s title hopes faded.
Tennis fans certainly haven’t let Daria’s reactions go unnoticed.

Every non-Djokovic fan in the arena thinking Medvedev is going to come back after that shot, while his wife looks like ‘Niet, no chance Dani’. #AusOpen

Medvedev expressed his gratitude by thanking his wife and support staff in his post-match speech.
βIt’s not the best day today,β he said.
βProbably the last three months after difficult circumstances.
βThank you guys for being with me in Australia for a long time. I hope that we will soon organize a Grand Slam.
Daniil Medvedev no match for tennis ‘cyborgs’
Describing Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as “tennis cyborgs,” Medvedev admitted that his best currently wasn’t good enough to topple the Big Three when in the grand slam zone.
After losing to Nadal in the 2019 US Open final, the Russian was not in a match against Djokovic in Sunday’s Australian Open decision.
But the 25-year-old was optimistic despite the outcome, saying the star trio were simply better players.
“When they’re in the zone, and I’m not ashamed to say it, I just feel like they’re just better tennis players, which shows in the facts and figures, than the rest. of us, βhe said.
“When you’re also in the zone, you can give them a big fight, you can win games, maybe big titles, but it’s just that the percentage is on their side.”
The victory was Djokovic’s ninth at Melbourne Park after nine final appearances, and Medvedev had already done the math on this superb achievement.
“I’m 25 now, so to win nine Australian Open I have to win every year until I’m 34,” he said.
βI believe in myself, but I don’t think I can do it.
“Same for Rafa (Nadal) – 13 at Roland Garros – we are talking about a few tennis cyborgs, in a good way. They are just amazing.”
