A spokesman for Daimler said in an email that the company was working with Chicago law enforcement "to neutralize a fraud problem."
"No personal or confidential information about members has been compromised," said spokesman Michael Silverman. "For the sake of safety and security for our members and the Chicago fleet support teams, we are temporarily suspending our service in Chicago, we will provide you with an update as soon as possible and we apologize, of course, for our members.
When asked if vehicles had been stolen, Silverman declined to comment on "an active police investigation".
