The code of the application suggests that Google could launch a Pixel 4a next to the Pixel 4

Could we see a Google Pixel 4a appear earlier than expected? Right next to the Pixel 4 at the same unveiling maybe? This is suggested by a code name found in the next Google Camera app.

9to5Google has researched and found a reference to a device "needle", next to the code names "coral" and "flame" that we think are related to Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phones.

This is essentially speculation at this stage, but this name of "needlefish" has already been mentioned, associated with a reference to Qualcomm, suggesting that the device is a kind of Android gadget with a Snapdragon chip inside .

In fact, these code names have been circulating for months – it's just a matter of knowing exactly what they're referring to.

Count the pixels

Do not forget that the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL were only launched in May. So it would be a surprise if Google unveiled another tidy halfway in the next five months.

However, as pointed out by 9to5Google, there was talk about the fact that Pixel 3a phones should initially arrive alongside the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Maybe Google wants to get into the routine of releasing high-end and mid-range phones at the same time of the year? It's something we've seen Apple and Samsung experimenting in recent years.

At this point, we just do not know what Google is planning, but we'll be posting announcements for its upcoming launch event, scheduled for mid-October.
