Warning: The spoilers follow for the number 192 from The dead who walk.
The developments of Robert Kirkman in the The dead who walk comic, who created a very long-time character. As Uproxx reports, the Image Comics series has made it impossible before by killing Rick Grimes.
In Issue 191, released last month, Rick was shot in the chest by Sebastian Milton, son of the current Governor of the Commonwealth, where currently are the survivors of Alexandria. Rick and the Alexandrians were made enemies of Governor Samantha Milton because of the Commonwealth classification system, and the governor was imprisoned while new elections were scheduled. This left Sebastian pull the shot that hit Rick, leaving a cliffhanger.
Number 192 saw Sebastian shoot Rick several times and die. Carl arrived to find Rick in the form of a zombie and had to shoot him in the head, belittling him. Robert Kirkman stated in the Letter Hacks section of the comic book (according to CBR that he knew Rick would die in this situation "for almost a decade".
"I've been working on this since I started writing … Number 1," Kirkman wrote. "It does not make things any easier, but it's something I'm trying to do. got used to better and better over the years, then months and weeks … I knew it was going to happen. "
He added, "Even before introducing Sebastian Milton (number 177), I knew that it was he who would kill Rick Grimes. For almost a decade, I knew that Rick would choose to preserve the Commonwealth, no matter what the price was … and it would cost him his life. During the interviews, I said for many, many years that everyone dies in this story and that even Rick Grimes will not survive until the end, "he added. "Although it has always been Rick's story so far, as stated in the first issue, that does not mean he has to be alive to be in the series. It's the story of a world, not a man … it's the story of a world deeply affected by this man, as we'll see in the next issue … but it's not exclusively the story Rick's story.
Obviously, this will not necessarily affect the TV series, where Rick was writing out of the series (but plays in his own film series on AMC). It is possible, however, that Rick's films lead him to the Commonwealth, where he could eventually suffer the same fate. Steve Gustafsson of 411 gave the new number a 9/10 in his review of the round table of this week's comic book review.
