Companies have jokingly given themselves names based on codes in the past (you can thank XKCD for that), but one of them was simply forced to make amends. The Guardian reports that the UK business registrar, Companies House, forced a software consultant to change his company name after discovering he could launch cross-site scripting attacks against vulnerable pages – yes, including Companies House. A site could have inadvertently compromised itself by simply mentioning the company, which could be more than a little embarrassing for the officials who gave the name the green light.
