Hugh Jackman will be back for a sequel to the musical The Greatest Showman.
The director of the first film, Michael Gracey, confirmed to the Sun that a sequel to the hugely popular musical The Greatest Showman – which is the third-largest musical in history – is in development.
Gracey said The sun while he was in London supporting Jackman's performance at the 2019 Brit Awards: "When a movie becomes so successful, it is quite natural that there is a demand for a sequel.
"These discussions have started and we are working on it."
The director also revealed how difficult it was to have the film produced.
"There were huge doubts about this for a very long time and some contributors withdrew their money."
Despite a divided critical response, The Greatest Showman's actual portrayal of P. T. Barnum has conquered audiences in the cinema and music fans who have long left his band at the top of albums.
It is unclear which other members of the cast will return for a second chapter or what will be the plot of the film.
Showman's Biggest Take on P.T. Barnum's life was very fictional, so we doubt that they feel too compelled to advance the plot.
Besides Hugh Jackman, the first film also played with Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Keala Settle.
