According to epidemiologist Scott Lindquist, an epidemiologist, the cost of the measles outbreak in southwestern Washington has exceeded one million dollars.

According to Dr. Lindquist, contacting and testing sick people – mostly children – and trying to determine who else they might have been exposed to has been a time consuming and expensive process.
This $ 1 million prize represents a multitude of tests, procedures and more.
"Every case you have to identify, you have to test, you have to isolate that person, [and] you have to interview where they were in the audience – I mean it takes a lot of work, "he told KIRO radio.
Most of the 64 sick people were unvaccinated, a bill to remove personal exemptions for parents who vaccinate their children is currently being treated in the state legislature.
For the current epidemic, it is something that could have been completely avoided.
"Taxpayers are paying for an epidemic that could have been avoided 100%," he said.

"We are talking about 162 people who were removed from the agency from their usual job to take over this investigation into an outbreak."
Lindquist also thinks that we may be at the end of the epidemic, provided that no new unvaccinated person is exposed.
